NCAR Research Data Archive makes data subsets available in NetCDF format

NCAR's Computational and Information Systems Laboratory (CISL) Research Data Archive (RDA) contains a large and diverse collection of meteorological and oceanographic observations, operational and reanalysis model outputs, and remote sensing datasets to support atmospheric and geosciences research, along with ancillary datasets, such as topography/bathymetry, vegetation, and land use.

CISL's Data Support Section, which manages the Research Data Archive, recently announced that users of some subsets of the archived data can request files in NetCDF format. From the announcement:

Users now have the option of choosing NetCDF for the output data format when requesting parameter subsets on select GRIB-1 and GRIB-2 datasets. To access the gridded parameter subsetting interface, click on the "Data Access" tab from a dataset homepage, then click on the "Internet Download" link. At this point the user reaches the "Internet Data Access Options" form. From here the user needs to click on the "Request a Subset" icon associated with the data group on interest.

For additional information about the archive, see the CISL RDA web site.
