NOAA is searching for a Physical Scientist to serve as a Public Weather Program Coordinator at the National Weather Service (NWS), Analyze, Forecast and Support (AFS) Office, Forecast Services Division (FSD), Severe, Fire, Public, and Winter Weather Services Branch (SFPWSB) in Silver Spring, MD.
The Public Weather Program Coordinator:
- Develops strategies and policies to enhance the service capacity of National Weather Service (NWS) public and winter weather operations.
- Works directly with the National Center for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) Storm Prediction Center and other appropriate NCEP units on issues such as coordination of national and local public and winter weather policy and products, partner collaboration and forecast consistency.
- Analyzes and validates new tools for public and winter weather analyses, forecasts, and communication with core partners, the weather enterprise, and the general public.
