Matthew Perna joined the Unidata Program Center (UPC) team on June 6th of 2016 as a systems administrator. A native New Yorker, he moved to Fort Collins, CO from Long Island, NY in April, 2016.
Matt attended the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University before he earned his first Microsoft Systems Engineer (MCSE) in 1998. Since then, he has accrued 21 certifications for Microsoft system engineering.
For the last eleven years, Matt was the Information Technology Director for Touro Law School on Long Island. Prior to that, he had the pleasure of being a Systems Administrator for Children's Television Workshop — home of Sesame Street.
Here at Unidata, Matt is responsible for the maintenance and configuration of UPC staff's desktop computers along with numerous servers runing various Microsoft operating systems. He says he is also “excited about the Unix environment and what it has in store.”
When not working or commuting to the UPC, Matt is an outdoor person, enjoying white water kayaking, biking, and hiking. He is also an avid gardener and a supreme coffee drinker.
Please help us welcome Matt Perna to the Unidata Program Center Team!
What a wonderful welcome you've extended to Matthew! As an inept and fairly ignorant but, sadly, regular computer user I can testify that Unidata has gained a personable, dedicated and knowledgeable computer expert. I should know. Matthew has saved me from 'blue screens of death' and other esoteric computer 'issues' many, many times. Fortunately, being his brother, I didn't have to hire him. I'm certain he will be an asset to UniData!
