Unidata Update: September 2019

NetCDF 4.7.1

Version 4.7.1 of the netCDF-C library and version 4.5.0 of the netCDF-Fortran library are now available.

Unidata Welcomes New committee Members

The Unidata Program Center is pleased to welcome new members to the program's governing committees. Committee members serve three-year terms, meeting twice each year to provide feedback on the effectiveness of the Unidata Program and advise staff on issues facing the university community. Appointments reflect the range of large and small colleges and universities with undergraduate and graduate emphases where Unidata systems are in use. Read on for a brief introduction to the scientists joining Unidata's committees.

Unidata Program Center Welcomes Shay Carter

Shay Carter

Shay Carter joined the Unidata team on September 3rd, 2019 as a Software Engineer and Programmer. Originally from Canada, she moved from Phoenix, Arizona to take over this new position.

NetCDF C++ 4.3.1

Version 4.3.1 of the netCDF-C++ library and is now available.


NetCDF-Java library version 5.1.0 Released

The Unidata THREDDS Development Team is happy to announce the availability of version 5.1.0 of the NetCDF-Java/Common Data Model (CDM) library.

On the Developer's Blog

Unidata Program Center developers write regularly on technical topics on the Unidata Developer's Blog. The ongoing MetPy Mondays series looked at mapping hurricane Dorian, as well as several topics related to using the Pandas package.

Governing Committee News

Unidata's Users Committee met 21-22 March 2019, in Boulder, Colorado. The meeting summary will be available shortly. The meeting summary is available here. The next meeting is scheduled for 21-22 March 2019 in Boulder, CO. The next meeting will be a joint meeting with the Strategic Advisory Committee held 1-3 October 2019 in Boulder, CO.

Unidata's Strategic Advisory Committee met 16-17 April 2019 in at Pensylvania State University in State College, PA. The meeting summary will be available shortly.
