11.16 NetCDF-4 Status

NetCDF-4.0 was released in June 2008.

We're always seeking feedback on performance and functionality.
Some bugs in the 4.0 release, to be fixed in 4.0.1 release later this year.
The netCDF daily snapshot should be used to get bug fixes for enhanced netCDF-4 model features.
ncdump handles netCDF-4 enhanced model in 4.0.1 release.
ncgen only handles classic model in 4.0.1 release, but an upgraded version of ncgen has been developed by Dennis Heimbigner and is available with --enable-ncgen4 configure option.

NetCDF-4.1 will contain the openDAP client, allowing remote access to netCDF files.
