17.7 The Configure Script
Options to the configure command control what gets built.
- The --help option lists all available choices and important
environment variables.
- All the magic is done by the Linux programs automake, autoconf,
and libtool (a.k.a. autotools). These are industry standard tools
which provide a high degree of portability and automation.
- If you want to help patch the netCDF build system, you need to
modify the autotools input files, not the output. (Modify the
configue.ac and Makefile.am files, not the configure script or the
Makefiles.)
