Our efforts will be focused on incremental innovations to

• respond to user needs, as expressed in surveys, workshops, and support requests for feature enhancements
• manage a graceful transition from supporting the simple netCDF classic data model to netCDF-4's enhanced data model
• provide better support for remote access, server-side data manipulation, and data streaming
• respond to the need to faithfully represent observational data as well as gridded data
• scale up software to handle larger volumes of data efficiently
• move innovative and successful netCDF-Java features to the C-based reference software
• provide effective support to a larger netCDF user community as users of satellite products, GIS, and other analysis and visualization software make use of growing archives of netCDF data
