This is how we configure the ldmd be be started on a reboot.

Copy the script at:
http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/packages/ldm/ldmConfigInstallList.html#s10 

to /sbin/init.d/ldmd

Make sure all the variables in the script are set correctly for your
system. In directory /sbin/rc3.d   do a link to the /sbin/init.d/ldmd
file, ie

% ln /sbin/init.d/ldmd  S95ldmd

Make sure there are no other files that start with S95, if there is one
then pick a number higher but not above 100.

That's it.  Notice all ldm commands start with "/bin/su - ldm " to make
the ldm run as user ldm, not root.
