Anne,
        I've tried to install LDM on some other alphas
with newere operating 
systems.  It gets further along but fails.  
        
        Here's what I get at the end;
        
Making `install' in directory
/usr/local/ldm/ldm-5.0.8/src/pqcreate

c89 -g -I../config -I. -I../misc -I../ulog
-I../protocol -I../pq -DHAVE_CONFIG_H 
-c  pqcreate.c
