Erick,

Since it's compiled into the source code to use GMT, it doesn't have to
show up as an environment var. We did it as a convience since everyone had
to set TZ to GMT before building the LDM.

Noop, I believe many sysadmins use GMT so they can use xntp( used to keep
machine clocks in sync).  Could also be the default when the machines are
shipped because the destination TZ is not known.
