NetCDF-4.0-beta1 is currently available for testing.

• We're still seeking feedback on performance and functionality.
• File format is finalized, data written now will work with netCDF-4.0 release
• NetCDF-4.0 production release waiting for HDF5 1.8.0 production release
• HDF5 1.8 has enhancements specifically for netCDF-4:
  • variable creation order
  • Unicode names
  • dimension scales
  • on-the-fly numeric conversions
• ncdump and ncgen utilities not completely converted to netCDF-4 yet :-(
