Subject: NWS Ingest via AWIPS

Robb, I hope you are feeling better after your trip. At least you got a day
off maybe...

I am still fighting with this LDM and trying to find out if what I am doing is
even possible. Robb it would really be better if I could explain this situation
over the phone. I have left messages on the voice mail.

What I have is an application on a unix box that is getting the AFOS type
products out of our AWIPS database. This application is called ldserv. It is
trying to communicate with and pass the products on to the LDM. I can see the
connection is made and there are no errors being logged. But it is as though
the LDM is just not doing anything with the data. Could I please get an answer
on this as our cut over date is the 3rd of Feb and this is really the way I
wanted to feed data to my outside world. Otherwise I will have to set up an
Async port. These async ports have a bunch of problems all their own especially
when sending graphics over.

I have read what I believe is every bit of the man pages and other docs on the
web on the subject. Truth is, there just is not that much info on the TCP
aspects of LDM.

Can I send the LDM data via TCP even though the source is NOT another LDM? My
application is sending via port 388 and I do have those entries in the services
and rpc files. Here is the line I use in ldmd.conf

    exec "pqing -vl /usr/local/ldm/logs/lds.log -f AFOS -P 388"

I also try different variants on the command line until finally I lock up the
LDM. I really could use a few minutes of your time and it would be appreciated.
