Gerry,

I am not technically competent enough to get into the debate
over the kill process. It sounds like to me that you came
from some Unix background to Linux, I had never even see a
machine running any form of Unix or Linux until two years
ago. There is a big push to go with the Linux momentum
and replace all other types of Unix with it (you see
many articls predicting the end of other forms of Unix).
Look at SGI pushing Linux instead of Irix...

In my opinion if you are in the position of starting completely
from scratch and can only afford a $3500 PC to develop Unidata
programs, it is a good thing that Unidata fully supports Solaris
x86, because to me, having tried both, Solaris is far easier
to come up to speed on, admimnister, add hardware..really sort
of plug and play..but again it is just my opinion.

Of course, since I didn't have any previous
Unix experience where Solaris places things would not seem strange to me.

This debate will never be settled. I am just grateful that Unidata
gives the PC user the choice, which was really my point.

Gig'em and thanks for the help on Apache.
