Hi Matt,

This output was revealing.   The gethostbyname call is unable to resolve the
name "ldmhost.dri.edu" to an IP address.  This could explain your problem
with notifyme as well, including the failure to connect to your failover
host.  (I just this moment tried a notifyme again to ldmhost.dri.edu  and
typhoon.atmos.ucla.edu and data is still flowing at both sites.)

How gethostbyname works is configurable.  Often it's configured to look in
the file /etc/hosts, so it's possible that if you just put the correct
entries in that table things might work.  I suggest you talk with your system
administrator about this.
