This effort supports five of the funding proposal's six focus areas:

2. Advancing data services
3. Developing and deploying useful tools
5. Providing leadership in cyberinfrastructure
6. Promoting diversity by expanding opportunities
The use of McIDAS in the U.S. educational community remains largely unchanged since the last User Committee meeting in Fall 2010. We estimate that approximately 40 U.S. and international educational sites are actively using Unidata McIDAS-X/-XCD.
NB: It was decided to not follow the SSEC lead in renaming releases to match the year (e.g., v2010.1 for the initial release in 2010) because any/all changes to McIDAS are minor in nature. This decision lessens the effort needed to support documentation since version numbers don't need to be updated, etc.

NB: We are unsure why the Internet2 statistics are
not being routinely updated of late!
