I'm with Brendon here, a major platform like windows should get some attention.
What do you need Michael?
I'm tied up with several projects or I'd dive into it.

Hi Jared,
I've written a guide for setting up the ADE at [
https://unidata.github.io/awips2/dev/awips-development-environment/ ](
https://unidata.github.io/awips2/dev/awips-development-environment/ )
Other than the yum repositories, the instructions are valid for all operating
systems. You'll need JDK 1.8, Eclipse 4.5.1, and after Eclipse is installed
you'll need the latest version of PyDev installed within Eclipse.
The issue with resource labeling you refer to is [
https://github.com/Unidata/awips2/issues/181 ](
https://github.com/Unidata/awips2/issues/181 )
It's related to the GL screenshot error on Mac, which is discussed at [
http://forum.jogamp.org/How-to-make-screenshot-on-SWT-td4033448.html ](
http://forum.jogamp.org/How-to-make-screenshot-on-SWT-td4033448.html ) and is
caused by using old and new SWT classes with Jogamp.
I fully welcome you investigating this, it's been a major bug in the Mac
release for a while and I come back to it every few months hoping to gain new
insight or find a small fix, but more and more it seems that in order to solve
this it would take a major refactoring of how SWT GLCanvas is used in AWIPS.

Is it possible to use the AWIPS Development Environment on macOS? If so, what
is required (beyond a JDK, of course)? I'd like to get a debugger onto the Mac
version if possible so I can try to learn some more about why I'm seeing some
errors with GIS datasets using labels (which seemed to improve in 17.1.1-3 but
then broke for good again in 17.1.1-4 and -5).
Many thanks in advance!
