Hi Case Study Community, We are trying a different approach to the case study announcements. With Case 015, a Web link is provided for users to access the detailed information about the case study. There are numerous hot links within this page that will provide information on case 015 and other case studies available through the WWW interface. http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/projects/casestudies/announcements.html ====================================================================== Southeast U.S. Cyclogenesis, 28 April 1998 Case 015 follows the evolution of a low pressure system through its lifecycle as it moves from Arkansas to Illinois, and provides a good example of the effects of model biases in the AVN model. The errors introduced to the AVN model due to inherent biases resulted in an incorrect prediction of strong cyclogenesis over the Gulf of Mexico. Case 015 is now available for searching, browsing, and ordering for FTPdownload through the CODIAC WWW system.
Case 015 was presented as a laboratory exercise during the COMAP Symposia on Numerical Weather Prediction held at COMET. Case 015 includes GOES-8 satellite imagery; NOWRAD composite radar imagery from WSI; surface and upper air observations; NCEP model data; and textual products from the NWS Family Of Services (FOS). For additional information on this case, including a lab exercise and other support documentation, see the above referenced URL. ====================================================================== Linda Miller External Liaison Telephone: (303) 497-8646 UCAR/Unidata Program Center Fax: (303) 497-8690 P.O.
