Announcing:
*The 2013 Unidata Equipment Awards Program*
Sponsored by the National Science Foundation
*Are you interested in participating in the Unidata program?*
*Do you need upgraded equipment to continue participating?*
*Do you have an innovative contribution to make to the Unidata community?*
If so, you might be a good candidate for a Unidata Community
Equipment Award!
We are soliciting proposals for computer equipment purchases from
/academic institutions/ engaged in teaching and research in the geosciences.
* Awards up to $20K will be made
* Proposals must be received at the Unidata Program Center by March
15, 2013 to be considered
* Notifications of award status are expected to be made by May 2013
This year, special consideration will be given to proposals that:
* Include installation of a prototype AWIPS II standalone EDEX server
and CAVE client, coupled with the Unidata LDM, to test data ingest
and display both locally, and using the CAVE thin client to connect
to remote servers.
* Include installation of a standalone data server (preferably in the
Eastern U.S.) running a suite of Unidata software packages including
LDM, McIDAS, RAMADDA, THREDDS/TDS to ingest, decode, and serve data
to the Unidata community. The data served should include data from
real-time IDD/LDM feeds and may include data from local
observations, data from local modeling efforts, case study
collections, and climate data.
Unidata's technical staff stands ready to assist with installation and
configuration of both servers. And as always, these special emphases do
not preclude other proposals from members of the Unidata community for
procuring new computers or upgrading existing classroom and laboratory
equipment to integrate Unidata tools and data services in geoscience
education and research.
