Announcing:
*The 2016 Unidata Community Equipment Awards Program*
Sponsored by the National Science Foundation
Are you interested in participating in the Unidata program?
Do you need upgraded equipment to continue participating?
Do you have an innovative contribution to make to the Unidata community?
The Unidata Community Equipment Awards can help!
We are soliciting proposals for computer equipment purchases from *academic
institutions* engaged in teaching and research in the geosciences.
- Awards up to $20K will be made
- Proposals must be received at the Unidata Program Center by *March 25,
2016* to be considered
- Notifications of award status are expected to be made by May 2016
This year, special consideration will be given to proposals that include
one or more of the following:
- Installation of an AWIPS II standalone EDEX server to test data ingest
locally, as well as the CAVE client to display data from local and remote
servers
- Implementation of or pilot projects with remotely-accessible storage
systems for geoscience data (“cloud-based storage”)
- Implementation of or pilot projects with remote server-based data
analysis or visualization systems (“cloud-based analysis”)
- Installation of a Jupyter notebook server in the cloud to experiment
with Python for data-proximate analysis and visualization
As always, these special emphases do not preclude other proposals from the
Unidata community for procuring new computers or upgrading existing
classroom and laboratory equipment to integrate Unidata tools and data
services in geoscience education and research.
