Tom, Actually I do think it could be the perl version, I mentioned that last week. Ask Doug to install the (5.005) version. There could be a problem with the eof() function in version 5.8.0. Thanks Robb. BTW, Doug Smith got the vanilla RH9 machine up and running this morning and I've got the LDM/Decoder combination set up on it as it had been on the cluster configuration. Once again metar2nc is being spawned in huge numbers. I was working with Tom on it and we went so far as to grab the shemp version of metar2nc to see if the problem persist and it did. Speculation: do you think it might have something to do with the version of perl on our machine (5.8.0) vs. the one on shemp (5.005)? Thanks, Tom.
