Have you tried garea = lat1;lon1;lat2;lon2 ?
as in the help:
GAREA can be specified in the following:
1. lat1;lon1;lat2;lon2
This defines a latitude/longitude range where (lat1, lon1) is
the lower left corner and (lat2, lon2) is the upper right corner.
West longitude is negative.

Here the output is pretty exact.. what kind of data are you trying to display?

the GAREA specified in gempak rarely exactly equals the output
provided... is there a way to tell what exact coords gempak uses
when creating graphics? i.e. the lower left / top right etc?
