Users of LDM/IDD UNIWISC imagery:
Yesterday evening at 23:43 UTC the GOES-12 (aka GOES-M, formerly GOES-East)
imager was turned off. GOES-12 was officially decommissioned today, 20130816.
The impacts of the decommissioning include:
- loss of GOES-South scans in Unidata-Wisconsin (LDM/IDD datastream
UNIWISC, aka MCIDAS) east image sectors
- cessation of ADDE access to GOES-South imagery
GOES-12 ably served the atmospheric and space science communities
since it began operations on April 1, 2003.
Unidata will be repurposing the equipment used to ingest and serve
GOES-12 data in the near future.

Update:
GOES-12 Sounder electronics were turned off at 1100 UTC on August
13, 2013, which will be the conclusion of all data products from the
GOES-12 Sounder.
The uplink of EMWIN data to GOES-12 will be turned off at 1400 UTC on
August 15, 2013
All the services (LRIT, EMWIN, DCS, SARSAT) will be stopped permanently
in preparation for GOES-12 End-of-Life at 2300 UTC on August 15, 2013
The GOES-12 Imager data will be turned off at approximately 2330 UTC
on August 15, 2013.
GOES-12 de-orbit maneuvers are scheduled at 0100 UTC and 1300 UTC on
August 16, 2013.
GOES-12 was launched on July 23, 2001, and it has supported South
America at 60�W since May 2010. The spacecraft engineering team
in the The Office of Satellite and Product Operations (OSPO) was
granted approval from NESDIS headquarters to proceed with plans to
decommission the spacecraft after evaluating its health and ability
to provide meaningful data to the scientific and weather community.
