Bill's response bounced because of the attachments. I've
posted these in the IDV gallery with the bundle:
http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/idv/gallery#model_data
(last one before Observation examples).
I also added another movie and bundle that Bill created showing
temperature anomalies from the standard atmosphere (second one
in the Quicktime Movies section).
Thanks, Bill.
As a side note, we are going to revamp our gallery in the coming
months so we can post more user examples, plugins and bundles.
Stay tuned!

Attached are an image of a 3D 500 mb surface, with contours,
and a bundle file that creates this display. Enjoy.

Subject: Re: Plotting isobaric surface in 3D
I like Tom's "the proof is left to the reader as a simple
exercise" for putting other fields on this. (Hint: use the
Any Field formula, select one of the other 3D Surface "* over
topography" displays) and use your 3D Pressure Surface
formula 2 twice - once for topography (Z) and once for the
Any Field field. Contours and color shaded displays should
work fine. A simple first one is to plot contours of Z on Z
so you have a 3D topo map. When you've completed the "simple
exercise", please share with the list.
