In the Display Control for the contour lines, click "Edit->Properties"
this should bring up a dialog where you can edit the labels.
Information about the contents is in the users guide....
<http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/idv/docs/userguide/controls#properties>
You might find a quick read thru the Users Guide helpful to understand
all that's available....
Enjoy!!

Thanks Tom,
I`ve been working mainly with 2D, so I wasn`t too sure what the box was for.
Appreciate the explanation. I`ve only been using IDV a few hours, so I`m
just getting a feel for it.
Would you happen to know if the list properties can be edited, you know the
text comments at the bottom of the display? For example, if I`m ingesting
NAM grib, I would like to note in the display `18hr NAM Valid 12z Thurs July
25th` plus the variable/parameters `850mb temperature/mslp` or something
like that. You know the usual stuff. The current default list display
doesn`t really give too much information.
Regards,
Bob.
