Hi Maswood,
we're developing in JAVA some thematic expert models for use within IDV.
-surface insolation from geo-stationary satellite obs
-sun-satellite-terrain triangulations
-atmospheric correction
-food security through crop growth simulation model
-bird migratory stuff had just started recently
Can you pls send that sample of turtle tracklogs showing vertical
cross-section temperatures? i would love to help you as our own students
(1 PhD, and 2 MSc) are also exploring which software to use for their
research, and i would like to steer them towards the IDV.
Cheers, Tyn

Hi Tyn,
Which software are you using ? Are you developing any software or only
using any particular software ?
You can download all the videos I have from the following link
https://www.yousendit.com/download/Q01IK0dvYXllM1EwTVE9PQ
If there is anything I can do, please let me know.
Thanks
Maswood

Hi Tyn
Those videos are produced using MamvisAD
(http://www.smru.st-andrews.ac.uk/MamVisAD/
<http://www.smru.st-andrews.ac.uk/MamVisAD/> ) ,not IDV. I am trying to
do that using IDV and probably will add some more feature, if possible,
in IDV with the help of Don, Tom and others,
All the video you can download in the following links.
http://www.smru.st-andrews.ac.uk/MamVisAD/Gallery/Movies/GPS/
http://www.smru.st-andrews.ac.uk/MamVisAD/Gallery/Movies/SEaOS/
These are really good video to look at :)
Hope to hear from Don, tom and others soon.
If you have any other queries, let me know.
Thanks
Maswood

Hi Maswood,
We also work with GPS tracklog data from migratory birds
and turtles.
Check out the GEON IDV project that has done some
related work on
vectors from GPS data. There is nothing yet I have seen
so far that
reproduce the movies you send with IDV _very_ cool stuff
btw.

Can you send me some of those files through SendIT so I
can play with
some visualization stuff...

Subject: [idvdevelopers] Visualizing marine animals
tracking using IDV
Hello Don,Tom and others
Thanks for the help.I am now able to open all files
using IDV after
adding/modifying the ncml file .
Though some the graphics/simulations are not that good
even after
changing the color ranges.
These files contain the information of turtle movement
which are
collected using GPS and other technologies. I get some
of the data from
http://www.nerc-essc.ac.uk/godiva/.
You can also generate data from that website
Though the turtle movement can't be seen at IDV yet.
I have sent some videos which is generated using the
MamvisAD
(http://www.smru.st-andrews.ac.uk/MamVisAD/)
software.You can download
them from
https://www.yousendit.com/download/Q01IK0d1d0FRYS92Wmc9PQ
Could you please give me some hint how to generate
similar simulation
using IDV and/or which module of IDV code have to be
developed to
implement this.
My intention is to visualize underwater terrain, turtle
movement, how
ocean events affect turtle behavior,interpolation,
uncertainty at sample
locations and between locations, compare between animals
etc.
using netCDF file
So could someone please give some suggestions/
guidelines regarding this
and if possible about the following questions:
1)Is there any developers guide(not the users guide )
for IDV where how
to handle I/O and add/modify visualization system is
described ?
2) Is there a tool by which it is possible to write
small netCDF file
where tracking of different animals are described and
visualize it with
IDV?
Is there any other way ?
3)The previous files contains turtle data ? How to
visualize that using
IDV ? If it is not possible to see the turtle track at
this moment, how
to develop module for that ?
Thanks again for the helps
Maswood Hasan Mostafi
