Re: [idvusers] JPL OnEarth WMS server kaput-where to get high resolution MODIS data for IDV?

Hi Mike-

It's a bummer that they are giving up on that server. It has a tiling interface, but that would require some coding on the IDV side to handle.

The nightly build has a replacement for this, but it's not as high resolution as the JPL one and looks like it has the seasonal imagery. For larger regions, the static Blue Marble image (now the default background map) works, but for small regions, try out the new one. Unidata is working on a 2.9u3 release and hopefully it will be out soon.

When trying to access and of the JPL WMS imagery one now gets:

This server no longer provides full WMS services!

So, now where can one go to get high resolution clear sky imagery of the
earth's surface for use in IDV?
thanks.
