One of the reasons SSEC decided to not document/support/train on ISL
was exactly that it is not a "scripting language" and hence our
emphasis is on the Jython. Our programmers have been very busy
creating handy utility routines for doing more data reading,
manipulation and display. And Don had already provided a very rich
set of "gempak-like" functions for computing derived parameters on
grids, plus many interfaces to core library (Java, IDV and VisAD)
routines. In addition, the interactive Jython shell provides great
opportunities to experiment and learn...
