We've totally replaced the memory chips in aeolus.ucsd.edu. They're not
new chips, but they're also not the ones that may have been causing the ldm
shutdowns. We'll watch it and see what happens.
Sorry for not giving my downstream sites any warning, but it had to be done
when the system manager had time and he couldn't schedule it in advance.
In addition, I've written and cron'ed a script that checks the most current
METAR file size every 20 minutes. If it's too small (which usually happens
if the ldm shuts down), then it sends a message to my pager. Hopefully, if
the ldm dies, I can get it restarted before there is any significant loss
of data. (Of course, it's been going down around 1:30 AM. My wife will
appreciate my pager going off then.)
