For those of you who feed from NIU, you should have weather2.admin.niu.edu
as the backup for my data feeds. If you do, this doesn't affect you, but
the hard drives are failing on weather3 and I shut the LDM down on it to
do a backup and prepare for replacement. Anyway, weather3 will
be running again this evening, but could go down at any time with the bad
hard drives. Please make sure you are getting data from weather2, and if
not, give me a holler.
Looks like we had collateral damage from a huge power surge yesterday
from an underground power line that shorted out, sending a manhole cover
in one of our parking lots 50' in the air, and doing damage as it nicked
a nearly brand new Lexus on the way back down. So, how's your day going? ;-)
(I'm not complaining, these things happen, and I'm prepared. The Lexus
owner might disagree, though. Most importantly, nobody was hurt in all of
this.)
