My understanding is that this notice from Donna actually only refers to the
Tier 2 LDM Relay service running on ldm.tamu.edu<http://ldm.tamu.edu>,
originally established under a special project by Gerry Creager who was with
the TAMU Academy for Advanced Telecommunications and Learning Technologies at
the time. Gerry and Donna can fill in the details.
The TAMU Dept. of Atmospheric Sciences still maintains its LDM
(coriolis.met.tamu.edu<http://coriolis.met.tamu.edu>) ingest for
teaching/research needs, with requests to ldm.tamu.edu<http://ldm.tamu.edu>
(for the time being) as well as other upstream IDD sources. Its management is
under the care of Dr. Gyorgyi Gyarmati, gygy@xxxxxxxx<mailto:gygy@xxxxxxxx>.

It surprises me that tamu no longer wants to receive data via LDM

Important information if you use, or sometimes use, LDM from

Howdy,
It is a with a sad heart to say that the LDM Service that has been provided,
for many years, from ldm.tamu.edu<http://ldm.tamu.edu/>, that is, from The
Academy at Texas A&M University, will come to an end sometime in the Spring of
2018.
There seems to be little interest in continuing this Service here at Texas A&M.
In an effort to show there is a need for this Service, please fill out this ten
question questionnaire on
SurveyMonkey<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.surveymonkey.com_r_TBMKQTN&d=DwMGaQ&c=ODFT-G5SujMiGrKuoJJjVg&r=8zJPpRsPyrTEl9Gc_TucyfSyLXyeQq4A_L1mQhFUBG0&m=fU7dR57wKJCF2qwmtnrB38imwRXonOCl2h8ydeU4nWc&s=N6bKA08cVEYD4qwWxicrwn9k5d7CRQm6iqQNK4NJCp0&e=>

Also, we could use as many letters of support as we can possibly get. Please
give a statement about how you currently use this Service and why Texas A&M
works best for you (e.g., not allowed from anywhere else or speed of
transmission). Such letters (or emails) will not be used to sell addresses to
marketers but be used, solely, to foster, and promote, continued participation
as an LDM Server on the IDD.
Thank you, Donna
