Ditto! You will be greatly missed Gilbert. Thanks for all your assistance over
the years!

I want to echo Victor's comments. You've done a wonderful job, and I'm
especially impressed with how you managed to get LDM releases even before Steve
knew what he was going to do with them. Your LDM testing and insights into the
satellite systems over the years have been truly invaluable.
We appear to be entering a period where "budget considerations" are attacking
our abilities to maintain high performance LDM relays. I hope that this, too,
shall pass, and encourage everyone to keep their relays available, as much as
possible for downstream users. It's through the community that we are strongest.
Regards
Gerry

Gilbert,
Your efforts cannot be thanked enough. You are a true example of what is
possible when the community is engaged. I thank you for allowing me to run
GEMPAK and answering shell questions many many years ago...in addition to
helping be jumpstart LDM on atlas. You are part of the reason I am now involved
with Unidata.
FYI LDMers, there is an alternate feed from NIU now that I am in the department
(atlas.niu.edu<http://atlas.niu.edu>), and I’d be happy to add allows for
anyone interested. No NOAAport, but we are on a 10 GB/s connection. Woohoo!

Hello everyone,
It has been a pleasure to serve the UNIDATA community over the last 20 years
here at NIU Weather.
However, due to budget cuts, I regret that my position has been eliminated,
and everything will be shut down on March 31, 2018. Please find alternate relay
servers
for NOAAport, level 2 radar, etc, from those who feed from me at
weatherX.admin.niu.edu<http://weatherX.admin.niu.edu>.
I thank all of those who put time and effort in to help me with
McIDAS, LDM, WXP, GEMPAK, and system administration questions
and concerns over the years. And I profusely thank UNIDATA for
all their help over the years in that regard, Steve Chizwell,
Steve Emmerson, Tom Yoksas, Dan Vietor, and many others...
thank you. To my upstream sites: David Wojtowicz, Pete Pokrandt,
and too many to count across the country...thank you for letting
me feed from all of you over these many years. It has been a
terrific run, and few can say they have had the privilege and honor
to interact or work with the caliber of people I have had the pleasure to
work with over the years. I'd love to continue doing this
for someone else full time, but we'll see what time and effort will bring!
Have a great day, and thank you again to everyone here who has
helped me, even in some very small way. It means more to me
than you know!
May all your winds be fair...no, wait. May all your cyclones
bomb to 930 MB, with a raging blizzard and thundersnow that
would cause Jim Cantore to cry on-air!
