Gilbert,
Thank you for all of your service to the Unidata community over the years. It
has been a pleasure working with you, and especially seeing your esoteric bug
reports for ldm versions that have not yet been released 😊
For the community, UW-AOS is still relaying, and intends to keep relaying data
via idd.aos.wisc.edu - anyone feeding from the various niu sites is welcome to
hit me up with a request.
Pete

Subject: [ldm-users] It is time...NIU Weather shutdown
Hello everyone,
It has been a pleasure to serve the UNIDATA community over the last 20 years
here at NIU Weather.
However, due to budget cuts, I regret that my position has been eliminated,
and everything will be shut down on March 31, 2018. Please find alternate relay
servers
for NOAAport, level 2 radar, etc, from those who feed from me at
weatherX.admin.niu.edu.
I thank all of those who put time and effort in to help me with
McIDAS, LDM, WXP, GEMPAK, and system administration questions
and concerns over the years. And I profusely thank UNIDATA for
all their help over the years in that regard, Steve Chizwell,
Steve Emmerson, Tom Yoksas, Dan Vietor, and many others...
thank you. To my upstream sites: David Wojtowicz, Pete Pokrandt,
and too many to count across the country...thank you for letting
me feed from all of you over these many years. It has been a
terrific run, and few can say they have had the privilege and honor
to interact or work with the caliber of people I have had the pleasure to
work with over the years. I'd love to continue doing this
for someone else full time, but we'll see what time and effort will bring!
Have a great day, and thank you again to everyone here who has
helped me, even in some very small way. It means more to me
than you know!
May all your winds be fair...no, wait. May all your cyclones
bomb to 930 MB, with a raging blizzard and thundersnow that
would cause Jim Cantore to cry on-air!
Gilbert
