Now, there's a thought-provoking idea. One might consider other applications,
such as Ferret, which would let you slice and plot the datasets, as well
as listing the numbers.

It is likely that you already have a mime-type called "application/x-netcdf",
which applies to files with the extension .nc or .cdf. In that case,
you can add
application/x-netcdf; ncdump %s
to your .mailcap.
If x-netcdf is undefined, you will need a file called .mime.types.
A copy is appended at the end of this letter.
