Hallo June,
i can recommend using gdal (gdal.org) for creating the single netcdf
files from each single arcinfo grid,
and than use CDO for merge them in one single files.
I did that for ~1000 files no problems appeared... (I did not find
out how to set the date correctly with gdal - so i used CDO for
that) (http://www.mpimet.mpg.de/fileadmin/software/cdo/)

Hi all,
I have over 20,000 raster files that I need to convert to netCDF so that
I can display them in GrADS. Does anyone have a script to do this? I
know that I can batch convert raster to netCDF using ArcGIS, but ArcGIS
has a very annoying feature which involves having the user click on a
little "+" sign to keep adding rows for each file that he/she would like
to convert. There must be a faster approach, I would think?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much,
June
