Can you try the soon-to-be-released stand-along fortran library? Build the 4.1.3 C library (with --disable-fortran), and install it. Then get: ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/netcdf/netcdf-fortran-4.2-beta4.tar.gz Untar and install it, setting CPPFLAGS and LDFLAGS (and, for shared library builds, LD_LIBRARY_PATH to the appropriate settings to find the C library, and then build.
