FROM RTH WASHINGTON DATA MANAGEMENT
SUBJECT AWIPS SBN/NOAAPORT DATA FEED SWTICH
EFFECTIVE DATE BETWEEN 0730Z AND 0745Z TUESDAY JUNE 15
ON JUNE 15, 2010 BETWEEN 0730Z AND 0745Z, THE AWIPS SBN/NOAAPORT
DATA FEED WILL BE SWITCHED FROM THE EXISTING SATELLITE,
AMC-2, TO THE SES-1 SATELLITE. THE SATELLITE PROVIDER, SES
AMERICOM, IS MAKING THE SWITCH AS PART OF A SATELLITE
REPLACEMENT. SATELLITE SIGNAL PARAMETERS AND POSITIONING
ON SES-1 WILL BE IDENTICAL TO THAT OF AMC-2. NO SATELLITE
RECEIVE EQUIPMENT ADJUSTMENTS WILL BE REQUIRED. ONLY A 10
TO 20 SECOND INTERRUPTION IS ANTICIPATED AS AMC-2 IS DEACTIVATED
AND SES-1 IS ACTIVATED. ALL AWIPS PRODUCTS IMPACTED BY THE
TRANSITION WILL BE RETRANSMITTED AFTER THE EVENT.
