along with what gilbert mentioned...
i've been running both the s200 and s300
split from the dish for about a week and
a half now... so far the overall volumes
seem to be about the same.
if you would like to compare the volumes
side-by-side note the 'noaaport relays'
link from here:
http://wn.hamweather.net/
on the third graphics down you will see
"inbound volumes" noaa01 is the standard
dvbs feed via the s200 and noaa02 is the
dvbs-2 feed... inbound in this case means
only what is coming directly from the novras
on the errors everyone is noticing, i have
seen them too, though to be fair i am
using the older ldm 6.8.2 since i'm not
fond of the 6.9s yet.
so far in today's dvbs.log in the dvbs2
stream via the s300 there are a total of
3267 instances of missing fragments:
ldm@dc1noaa02:~/logs$ grep -c Missing dvbs.log
3267
compare this to the dvbs stream via the s200
where there were only 3 missing packets:
ldm@dc1noaa01:~/logs$ grep -c Missing dvbs.log
3
compare this to the ldmd.log on each machine
with the famous "Gap" errors, ergo:
May 8 05:11:43 dc1noaa02 dvbs_multicast[23602] ERROR: Gap in SBN last
69590364, this 69590366
May 8 05:11:43 dc1noaa02 dvbs_multicast[23604] ERROR: Gap in SBN last
250806750, this 250806752
May 8 05:11:45 dc1noaa02 dvbs_multicast[23600] ERROR: Gap in SBN last

May 8 05:11:48 dc1noaa02 dvbs_multicast[23600] ERROR: Gap in SBN last
411444954, this 411444956
May 8 05:11:48 dc1noaa02 dvbs_multicast[23600] ERROR: Gap in SBN last
411444998, this 411445000
on the dvbs2 stream there were a total of 8698
"Gap" errors so far today:
ldm@dc1noaa02:~/logs$ grep -c Gap ldmd.log
8698
compared to "7" for the dvbs stream:
ldm@dc1noaa01:~/logs$ grep -c Gap ldmd.log
7
if anyone would like to compare their dvbs2
dvbs.log with mine, i have compressed the log
(in zip for the doz people) from so far today
and placed it here:
http://wn.hamweather.net/wn/files/patrick/noaaport/
also in that directory are two cmcs screencaps
showing the s300 configurations.
cheers,
--patrick
