GLACKIN CHIEF, SERVICES DEVELOPMENT BRANCH SUBJECT: SEVERE WEATHER BACKUP TEST PLANNED 7/21/93 REFERENCE: FEDERAL PLANS FOR MUTUAL SUPPORT AND COOPERATIVE BACKUP AMONG OPERATIONAL PROCESSING CENTERS, FCM-P14-1985 ON JULY 21, 1993, AT 0600 UTC, THE AIR FORCE GLOBAL WEATHER CENTRAL (AFGWC) SEVERE WEATHER UNIT AT OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE (AFB) WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SEVERE LOCAL STORM WATCH AND FORECAST PROGRAM FOR TWENTY FOUR HOURS UNTIL JULY 22, 1993 AT 0600 UTC. THIS IS BEING DONE TO TEST THE BACKUP RESPONSIBILITY THAT AFGWC HAS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ABOVE REFERENCED FCM PLAN. THE SEVERE WEATHER UNIT AT OFFUTT WILL ISSUE ALL PRODUCTS THAT ARE NORMALLY ISSUED BY THE SEVERE LOCAL STORMS (SELS) UNIT AT NSSFC WITH THE EXCEPTION OF AFOS GRAPHICS NMCGPH94O AND NMCGPH98O. RECEIVERS OF THOSE PRODUCTS WILL HAVE TO RELY ON THE ALPHANUMERIC PRODUCTS MKCSWODY1 AND MKCSWODY2, RESPECTIVELY. COORDINATION OF ANY NEEDED WATCHES WILL BE HANDLED BY AFGWC AND PHONE CALLS FOR COORDINATION CAN BE MADE TO (402)-294-5742. IF FOR ANY REASON, PROBLEMS DEVELOP SUCH AS COMMUNICATIONS, WORKLOAD, ETC., SELS WILL BE STANDING BY TO RESUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROGRAM.
