SUBJECT: UPDATE ON SCHEDULE FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF 216 NEW
            STATIONS FOR NGM MOS GUIDANCE

(THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION WAS PROVIDED BY J. PAUL DALLAVALLE OF
THE TECHNIQUES DEVELOPMENT LABORATORY.)

The NGM-based MOS guidance is currently available as an
alphanumeric product for 313 stations in the contiguous United
States. This guidance is available in the FWC category on AFOS
and as the FOUS14 KWBC message on the other communication
circuits. Technical Procedures Bulletin (TPB) No. 408 entitled
"NGM-Based MOS Guidance - The FOUS14/FWC Message" describes the
contents of the message and lists the stations for which NGM MOS
guidance is transmitted. The recently revised Appendix to
TPB No. 408, dated March 25, 1994, contains an expanded list of
stations for which the NGM MOS guidance will be issued.

We intended to add 216 stations to the original 313 stations for
which NGM MOS guidance is available, effective April 27, 1994.
Unfortunately, coordination problems have caused us to delay the
implementation date of this change to the FOUS14/FWC. We have
tentatively set a new implementation date of May 11, 1994. As
that date approaches, we will notify you again as to the status
of the implementation.

For AFOS users, an AFOS Change Notice, which includes the list of
the new stations, and the AFOS identifiers, will be transmitted
in the next week or so. In addition, Family of Services users
will receive a General Notification (GENOT) message (WMO header
NOUS40 KWBC) regarding these changes in the same time frame.

Users of the FOUS14/FWC message are referred to the
aforementioned TPB and the updated Appendix dated March 25, 1994,
for further information on the message format and for the new
list of stations which will be available. Copies of either of
these documents are available from:

     W/OM23
     NWS, Services Development Branch
     1325 East West Highway #13466
     Silver Spring, MD 20910

If you have any questions concerning the new stations, call
Paul Dallavalle or John Jensenius at 301-763-8151.
