ZCZC WSHPNSNMC ALL TTAA00 KWBC DDHHMM NATIONAL TECHNICAL INFORMATION MESSAGE 95-## NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HEADQUARTERS nnnn PM EDT FRI AUG 11 1995 TO: NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICES FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION USERS FAMILY OF SERVICES SUBSCRIBERS OTHER USERS OF NWS RADAR DATA FROM: GRANT NEWBY, METEOROLOGIST TECHNIQUES DEVELOPMENT LABORATORY, NSSFC SUBJECT: UPDATE OF COMPUTER AND PRODUCT OUTAGES AT NSSFC NOTE: THE FOLLOWING CHANGE HAS NO IMPACT TO NWWS USERS. We are continuing to further stabilize our mainframe computers and are now able to use many of our datasets, except model fields used for numerous derived fields and the data fields necessary to generate the auto radar observations. The radar summary chart is being produced without the tops and echoes from the wsr-88d sites. Our back-up method for creating the auto radar observations, via NESDIS mainframe, may be ready for testing sometime this afternoon. Plans are being made to keep the NSSFC programmers at work during the weekend hours in order to restore the generation of the most critical products, specifically the auto radar observations. Restoration of the lightning graphics for the NWS offices has been completed and is available Further updates will be sent on Saturday and Sunday, August 12 and 13th. NNNN
