GOES-8 / GOES-9 Full Disk Scanning Periods

        Beginning 04 September 1996, GOES-9 will operate in full disk
        mode during the GOES-8 eclipse period.  Also, GOES-8 will
        operate in full disk mode during the GOES-9 eclipse period.

        This is in response to a NOAA/National Weather Service request
        to provide full disk imagery from one satellite while the
        other satellite is in a scheduled outage period greater than
        one hour.

        For the duration of this eclipse period (through October),
        GOES-8 will be in full disk mode from 0745 through 1045 UTC.
        GOES-9 will be in full disk mode from 0400 through 0645 UTC.

        Normal scanning schedules will resume at the end of the
        eclipse period.
