583 NOUS40 KWBC 111833 FOS/NOAAPORT NOTICE NO. 1191 MARCH 11 1998 NOAA IS SCHEDULING A GOES-10 IMAGER AND SOUNDER DATA TEST FROM MARCH 16 - APRIL 12 1998 TO PRIMARILY INVESTIGATE THE UTILITY OF RAPID SCAN GOES-10 DATA FOR MONITORING ANALYZING AND FORECASTING METEOROLOGICAL EVENTS. THE TEST PERIOD WILL EMULATE THE SUPPORT PROVIDED BY A THREE GOES CONSTELLATION GOES-8 AT 75 DEGREES WEST GOES-10 AT 105 DEGREES WEST AND GOES-9 AT 135 DEGREES WEST. IN GENERAL GOES-10 IMAGER SECTORS WILL BE TRANSMITTED EVERY FOUR MINUTES AND SOUNDER SECTORS WILL BE TRANSMITTED EVERY THIRTEEN MINUTES. NESDIS PLANS TO MAKE GOES-10 DATA IMAGER AND SOUNDER DATA AVAILABLE THROUGH DIRECT READOUT GVAR GROUND STATIONS. GOES-10 IMAGER DATA COVERING THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES /CONUS/ SCALE IN APPROXIMATE FOUR MINUTE INTERVALS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED VIA NOAAPORT/AWIPS AND RAMSDIS. GOES-10 CONUS PRODUCTS WILL BE TRANSMITTED VIA GOES-TAP EVERY 15 MINUTES. PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS NOAAPORT - GOES-10 CONUS PRODUCTS WILL BE RELAYED ON THE WEST SATELLITE BROADCAST NETWORK FEED IN LIEU OF GOES-9 PRODUCTS. EXCEPTION STANDARD GOES-9 PRODUCTS WILL BE PROVIDED DURING THE DAILY GOES-10 ECLIPSE PERIOD 0530 UTC TO 0815 UTC. - ALL FIVE IMAGER CHANNELS TRANSMITTED APPROXIMATELY EVERY FOUR MINUTES. RAMSDIS - VARIOUS SECTORS IN VISIBLE WINDOW CHANNEL /11 MICRON/ AND SHORTWAVE /3.9 MICRON/ CHANNELS WILL BE ACCESSIBLE APPROXIMATELY EVERY FOUR MINUTES. - SOME STANDARD RAMSDIS PRODUCTS WILL BE CANCELED TO ALLOW FOR GOES-10 PRODUCTS AT RAPID INTERVALS. - ON MARCH 11 CIRA WILL PROVIDE RAMSDIS CUSTOMERS OF COMMANDS/ PROCEDURES USED TO ACQUIRE AND DISPLAY GOES-10 PRODUCTS. GOES-TAP - CONUS SCALE DERIVED EXCLUSIVELY FROM THE WINDOW CHANNEL WILL BE RELAYED ON SELECTED DIAL CODES AT PARTICIPATING SATELLITE FIELD DISTRIBUTION FACILITIES /SFDFS/. - THE GOES-10 GOES-TAP PRODUCTS WILL HAVE A SECTOR IDENTIFIER OF CC1-ZA4 PRODUCTS WILL BE TRANSMITTED EVERY 15 MINUTES AT HH00 HH15 HH30 AND HH45. - THE FOLLOWING DIAL CODES WILL BE USED TO DISSEMINATE GOES-10 GOES-TAP TEST PRODUCTS MKC SFDF - DIAL CODE 10 MIA SFDF - DIAL CODE 16 SFO SFDF - DIAL CODE 10 WBC SFDF - DIAL CODE 20 GOES-10 SCIENCE AND OPERATIONS TEST SCHEDULE TO INITIALLY TEST AND EVALUATE DATA INGEST PROCESSING AND DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS PRIOR TO THE OFFICIAL SCIENCE AND OPERATIONS TEST NOAA PLANS TO RELAY RAPID SCAN GOES-10 IMAGER AND SOUNDER DATA ON MARCH 12 1998 FROM 1400 UTC TO 2000 UTC. PRODUCT GENERATION SYSTEMS AND DATA DISPLAY SYSTEMS DESCRIBED ABOVE WILL BE USED TO ASSESS RESULTS OF THE PRE-TEST. MARCH 16 AT 1900 UTC MARKS THE OFFICIAL START OF THE GOES-10 SCIENCE AND OPERATIONS TEST. IN SUPPORT OF THE TEST THE GOES-8 AND GOES-9 ROUTINE IMAGER SCHEDULES CONSISTING OF AUGMENTED FULL DISK SCANS WILL BE IMPLEMENTED ON MARCH 17 00 UTC AND MARCH 16 2200 UTC.
