The recent North-South GOES-8 Maneuver has resulted in the requirement for an E-W maneuver SOON. Sorry about the short notice. ---------------------------- A GOES-8 East-West Station Keeping maneuver will be performed on Friday, January 07, 2000 at 0406 UTC. For NWS operations - This is the initial, backup and final date for this maneuver. Postponement can not be requested. If the NWS regions have any operational concerns, please contact the NCEP SDM (301-763-8298) at least 6.5 hours prior to the maneuver time. On January 7th, the following exclusive schedule will be employed to support maneuver operations. (*PLEASE NOTE the scheduled GOES-10 full disk scan period to support the primary GOES-8 data outage): GOES-8 E-W Station keeping Maneuver Schedule of Operations Maneuver Schedule starts at 2306 UTC on January 6th. >From 2314 UTC through 0314 UTC -- GOES-8 Routine Imaging and Soundings Except 2309 UTC Southern Hemisphere data is canceled. >From 0315 UTC through 0344 UTC -- GOES-8 Full Disk Scanning >From 0345 UTC through 0359 UTC - GOES-8 Routine Imaging and Soundings Except at 0345 UTC the Extended Northern Hemisphere Image is replaced with a Northern Hemisphere image. Also, the 0420 UTC Sounding is canceled. >From 0400 UTC through 0514 UTC -- No GOES-8 Imaging or Soundings *From 0400 UTC through 0529 UTC -- GOES-10 Full Disk Imaging* >From 0515 UTC through 1214 UTC -- Abbreviated GOES-8 full disk (19 minute scan) at XX45 and Northern Hemisphere Extended (NHE) imaging at XX15, and CONUS coverage soundings only at XX46) 1215 UTC -- GOES-8 routine imager and sounding schedules resume.
