AWIPS Symposium Information:

This is a reminder that the deadline to submit an abstract for the AWIPS
Symposium is 01 July, 2001.

The AWIPS Symposium will be held 14-17 January, 2002, in Orlando,
Florida, as part of the 82nd AMS Annual Meeting.
The event is being co-sponsored by:  The AMS Board for Operational
Government Meteorologists (BOGM), the AMS Committee on Interactive
Information and Processing Systems (IIPS), the AMS Committee on Weather
Analysis and Forecasting (WAF), the National Weather Association (NWA),
and the National Weather Service (NWS).

This will be a rare opportunity to share information regarding many
facets of AWIPS, from the development and planning level to the field
user level.  The following sessions are planned:

Overview of AWIPS
Visualization
Data Handling
Local Modeling
Internet/Web Opportunities and Challenges
Operational Applications
Specialized Uses
Interactive Forecast Preparation System
Locally Written Applications
Education and Training
Hydrological Applications

Abstracts are to be submitted electronically, through the AMS web site.
