Topic: GOES-10 East West Maneuver August 27, 2002 Message Issued: August 14, 2002, 1518 UTC Satellites Impacted: GOES-8 and GOES-10 Products Impacted: GOES-10 Imager and Sounder Data and GOES-8 Imager Data Date/Time of Initial Impact: August 14, 2002 0546 UTC -------------------------- Details: A GOES-10 East-West Station Keeping maneuver will be performed on Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at 1230 UTC. For National Weather Service operations: The backup date, and last window of opportunity (final date) for this maneuver is Thursday, August 29, 2002. If the NWS regions have any operational concerns, please contact the NCEP SDM (301-763-8298) at least 6.5 hours prior to the maneuver time. On August 27, the following exclusive schedule will be employed to support maneuver operations: (*PLEASE NOTE the scheduled GOES-8 Full Disk scan period to support the primary GOES-10 outage during the maneuver.*) Maneuver Schedule starts at 0546 UTC on August 27, 2002. Through 0629 UTC -- Full Disk Imaging and Sounding to cover GOES-8 Keep Out Zone period Except 0600 UTC Full Disk Image abbreviated to 19 minutes.
From 0630 UTC through 1059 UTC -- GOES-10 Routine Imaging and Soundings
Note: GOES-8 will provide full disk images from 0815 through 1014 UTC to cover the GOES-10 Keep Out Zone period
From 1100 UTC through 1219 UTC -- Full Disk Imaging and Soundings
Except 1200 UTC Full Disk Image abbreviated to 19 minutes. *From 1220 UTC through 1329 UTC -- No GOES-10 Imaging or Soundings* **From 1215 UTC through 1344 UTC -- GOES-8 Full Disk Imaging**
From 1330 UTC through 2029 UTC -- GOES-10 Post Maneuver Recovery
Including: Abbreviated Full Disk Images (19 minute scan) at XX00 Northern Hemisphere Images at XX30 CONUS Soundings at XX01 2030 UTC -- GOES-10 Routine Scan Operations Resume Expect GOES-10 imager and sounder gridding offsets for up to 6 hours following the maneuver.
