FAMILY OF SERVICES /FOS/ SUBSCRIBERS... EMERGENCY MANAGERS WEATHER INFORMATION NETWORK /EMWIN/ NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE /NWS/ CUSTOMERS... WAFS USERS... GTS USERS... NWS FAX CHART USERS FROM RTH WASHINGTON DATA MANAGEMENT THE NOAAPORT SATELLITE BROADCAST NETWORK (SBN) UPLINK STRENGTH WILL BE REDUCED BY 1.0 DB ON TUESDAY MARCH 18, 2003. THIS MESSAGE WILL BE RESENT THE DAY PRIOR TO THE 1.0 DB SIGNAL REDUCTION. WE WILL KEEP YOU INFORMED OF ANY CHANGES. THERE WILL BE AN ADDITIONAL 1.0 DB SIGNAL STRENGTH REDUCTION MADE DURING THE NEXT ROUTINE FAILOVER/SWITCHBACK OF MASTER GROUND STATIONS. THIS WILL OCCUR BETWEEN MARCH 24 AND MID APRIL. NOTIFICATION WILL BE PROVIDED ONCE THE DATE IS DETERMINED. THIS ACTION IS BEING TAKEN AFTER A REVIEW OF THE NOAAPORT LINK BUDGET BY NWS AND ITS CONTRACTORS. IT WAS DETERMINED THE UPLINK SIGNAL STRENGTH WAS TOO HIGH AND THESE ACTIONS WILL BRING THE SIGNAL STRENGTH CLOSER TO ITS SPECIFIED LEVEL.
