NWS FAX CHART USERS FROM RTH WASHINGTON DATA MANAGEMENT SUBJECT NWSTG WDE SYSTEM SWITCH On Wednesday, March 31 at 0630 ET, NWSTG staff will switch operation of the Weather Data Exchange (WDE) switching software from the active system to the standby system. This switch will test fail over capability between the two systems, and provide assurance of the viability of the Web sphere MQ queues upon fail over. The switch should be completed within 25 minutes. In the event of a Critical Weather Day, this switch will be rescheduled. A message will be sent prior to starting the switch and then after completion to verify a return to normal operations. Status information during the switch is available from NWSTG Tech Control at 301-713-0902. During the switch, the following circuits/processes will be suspended and the data received, sent, or processed by them will be queued for processing after the switch is complete: - Socket interfaces UKMet (Exeter), Brasilia, and WIMS send and receive will be interrupted. - TG to NCEP (TNC) TG lines 291, and 292 will halt. - NCEP to TG (NTC) (not including model file writes to AFS) Data will continue to be received via DBNet but will not be ingested into the WDE until after the switch. - Sybase to AFS (STA) Data update on the tgftp.nws.noaa.gov FTP server will be interrupted during the switch. - FTP Ingest will be suspended for the following accounts/lines though login and file transfer will not be affected. Any data will be queued for transmission after the switch. - Email Data Input Service (EDIS) Data input into the NWSTG via the EDIS interface will be suspended. Any data received will be queued for input after the switch. - Web Bulletin Entry Form (BEF) Data input into the NWSTG via the BEF web interface will be suspended. Any data received will be queued for input after the switch.
