NEW GEOPOTENTIAL HEIGHT GRIDS (SAME AS TEMPERATURE HEADERS, ABOVE, EXCEPT SECOND HEADER CHARACTER IS ?H?).
NEW U WIND COMPONENT GRIDS (SAME AS TEMPERATURE HEADERS, ABOVE, EXCEPT SECOND HEADER CHARACTER IS ?U?).
NEW V WIND COMPONENT GRIDS (SAME AS TEMPERATURE HEADERS, ABOVE, EXCEPT SECOND HEADER CHARACTER IS ?V?).
NEW CAPE GRIDS (SAME AS TEMPERATURE HEADERS, ABOVE, EXCEPT SECOND HEADER CHARACTER IS ?Y? AND SEE NOTE 6.).
NEW CIN GRIDS (SAME AS TEMPERATURE HEADERS, ABOVE, EXCEPT SECOND HEADER CHARACTER IS ?W? AND SEE NOTE 6.). NOTES: THE WMO HEADER ASSIGNMENT NOTES, BELOW, REFER TO THE GENERIC HEADER TEMPLATE: T1T2A1A2II.
1. SOME OF THESE HEADERS ARE USED BY BOTH RUC AND GFS GRIDS.2. THE ?CHARACTER PER MSG? ENTRY CORRESPONDS TO THE ESTIMATED SIZE OF A SINGLE GRID. MOST HEADERS CORRESPOND TO MULTIPLE GRIDS, AS INDICATED BY OTHER APPLICABLE NOTES. THE PRODUCT VOLUME ESTIMATE, FOR ALL THE GRIDS ABOVE, IS ROUGHLY 13.7MBYTES PER MODEL RUN OR 54.8MBYTES PER DAY.
3. THE 2 OR 4 PER DAY FREQUENCY ENTRIES REFER TO THE NUMBER OF MODEL RUNS PER DAY. TOTAL DAILY FREQUENCIES (FOR THE OCCURRENCE OF EACH HEADER GROUP) CAN BE MUCH LARGER SINCE EACH ##, IN THE HEADER, CORRESPONDS TO MULTIPLE VALUES AS DESCRIBED IN NOTES 4 & 5, BELOW. TWO-PER-DAY FREQUENCIES CORRESPOND TO THE 00 & 12UTC GFS MODEL RUNS; FOUR-PER-DAY FREQUENCIES CORRESPOND TO THE 00, 06, 12 & 18 UTC GFS MODEL RUNS.
4. THESE HEADERS CORRESPOND TO THE FOLLOWING LEVELS (NEW FOR THE THE GFS MODEL), WITH THE ASSOCIATED II WMO HEADER VALUES IN PARENTHESES: BL OR SIGMA LAYERS AT 0-30, 30-60, 60-90, 90-120, 120-150,150-180MB ABOVE THE SURFACE (86), 1000MB (99) 975MB (93), 950MB (95), 925MB(92), 900MB(90), 875MB(91), 825MB(82), 800MB(80), 775MB(77), 750MB(75), 725MB(72), 675MB(67), 650MB(65), 625MB(62), 600MB(60), 575MB(57), 550MB(55), 525MB(52), 450MB(45), 350MB(35). ALL LEVELS ARE SUMMARIZED IN NOTE 11.
5. FOR HEADERS REFERENCING THIS NOTE, ALL LEVELS IN NOTE 4 ARE INCLUDED, PLUS THE FOLLOWING LEVELS. AS IN NOTE 4, THE ASSOCIATED II WMO HEADER VALUES ARE IN PARENTHESES: SURFACE(98), 850MB(85), 700MB(70), 500MB(50), 400MB(40), 300MB(30), 250MB(25), 200MB(20), 150MB(15), 100MB (10). ALL LEVELS ARE SUMMARIZED IN NOTE 11.
6. FOR CAPE AND CIN, GRIDS AT TWO LEVELS WILL BE ADDED. ASSOCIATED II WMO HEADER VALUES ARE SHOWN IN PARENTHESES: SURFACE (98) AND 0-180MB AGL BL (86).
7. THE T1 VALUES CORRESPOND, RESPECTIVELY, TO THE FOLLOWING: Y. DEFAULT VALUEZ. VALUE FOR FORECAST PERIODS OF 54, 66, 78, 90, 102, 114, 126, 138, 150, 162, 174, 186, 198, 210, 222, AND 234 HRS
8. THE T2 VALUES CORRESPOND TO THE FOLLOWING PARAMETERS: T. TEMPERATURE R. RELATIVE HUMIDITY H. GEOPOTENTIAL HEIGHT U. EAST/WEST ?U? WIND COMPONENT V. NORTH/SOUTH ?V? WIND COMPONENT W. CIN Y. CAPE9. THE: A1 VALUE IS ALWAYS ?Q?? CORRESPONDING TO THE AWIPS 211 (~80KM RESOLUTION) GRID.
10. THE A2 VALUES CORRESPOND TO MODEL FORECAST TIMES (HOURS FROM INITIALIZATION), AS FOLLOWS:
FOR T1=Y: A2 HAS THE FOLLOWING VALUES: A=00, B=06, C=12, D=18, E=24, F=30, G=36, H=42, I=48, J=60, K=72, L=84, M=96, N=108, O=120, P=132, Q=144, R=156, S=168, T=180, U=192, V=204, W=216, X=228, AND Y=240 HRS. FOR T1=Z: A2 HAS THE FOLLOWING VALUES: M=54, N=66, T=78, U=90, V=102, W=114, AND Z=126, 138, 150, 162, 174, 186, 198, 210, 222, AND 234 HRS.
* NOTE: FOR T1=Z, A2 = ?Z?
