325 NOUS72 KNCF 281432 ADMNCF PLEASE PASS TO MIC, HIC, ESA, ITO, AND SOO ~ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION HAS BEEN PASSED BY TECH CONTROL: ~ On Thursday, October 28 at 1730 UTC, NWSTG staff will halt operations of the Weather Data Exchange (WDE) switching software in order to make database alterations. The outage is expected to take 20 minutes but could take as along as 30 minutes. ~ In the event of a Critical Weather Day, this outage will be rescheduled. A message will be sent subsequent to the outage to confirm a return to normal operations. ~ Any data from the NSC to the NWSTG will be queued and sent after the outage. Status information during the outage is available from NWSTG Tech Control at 301-713-0902. ~ During the outage the following circuits/processes will be suspended and the data received, sent, or processed by them will be queued for processing after the outage is complete: ~ - Socket interfaces Send and receive to/from UKMET (Exeter), Brasilia, South Africa, and WIMS will be halted. Send to the ISCS lines will stop. The NWSTG to NCF data transfer via sockets will stop. The NCF to NWSTG data flow via sockets and X.25 will continue. Any data received will be queued for processing after the outage. ~ - NCEP to TG (NTC) (not including model file writes to AFS) TG lines 201, 202, and 203. Any data received will be queued for processing after the outage. ~ - TG to NCEP (TNC) Data transfer to lines 291 and 292 will stop. ~ - Sybase to AFS (STA) Data update on the tgftp.nws.noaa.gov FTP server will be interrupted during the outage. ~ - FTP Ingest will be suspended for the following accounts/lines though login and file transfer will not be affected. Any data received will be queued for processing after the outage. ~ - Web Bulletin Entry Form (BEF) Data input into the NWSTG via the BEF web interface will be suspended.
