Topic: SeaWiFS in safe haven since 1 July 2008 Message Issued: Thursday, July 10, 2008, 1525 UTC Satellites Impacted: OrbView-2 (GeoEye) Products Impacted: Operational (SeaWiFS) CoastWatch ocean color products Date/Time of Outage: Since 1 July 2008 (Day 183) ----------------------------------------- Details: The SeaWiFS (Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor) has been in safe haven (non-imaging mode) since 1 July 2008 (Day 183). The SeaWiFS itself remains healthy and fully functional. GeoEye reports, “We are keeping the spacecraft in SafeHaven until later this month when we plan to upload a software patch that we expect to take care of the Safehaven issue we've been having. We'll send an update when we expect to resume imaging.” CoastWatch users should continue to use MODIS/Aqua-derived ocean color products until SeaWiFS data are restored to sustained timely delivery. ------------------------------------------ Contact Information: Linda Stathoplos Satellite Services Division NOAA/NESDIS/OSDPD 301-763-8142 x137
